Claude for Legal is Anthropic's legal-industry packaging of its Claude models, launched in May 2026. It bundles more than 20 MCP connectors to legal systems — including Westlaw, Practical Law, iManage, NetDocuments, Docusign, Ironclad, Everlaw, Harvey, and CoCounsel — with 12 practice-area plugins covering commercial, corporate/M&A, employment, privacy, product, regulatory, AI governance, IP, and litigation work.

Capabilities include contract review and redlining, legal research with case-law citations, M&A due-diligence analysis, outside-counsel billing review, and agentic multi-step workflows. Anthropic targets Big Law and mid-market firms, in-house legal teams, and legal tech companies, alongside a nonprofit program for public defenders and legal clinics.

Claude Team and Enterprise plans — the tiers a firm would deploy for legal work — do not train on customer data by default; this differs from Anthropic's consumer Free/Pro/Max plans, which may be used to improve models unless a user opts out.

Pricing (per claude.com) ranges from a free tier up to Pro at $17-20/month, Max from $100/month, Team at $20-25/seat/month for 2-150 seats (or a Premium seat at $100-125/month, with a 2-seat minimum), and Enterprise priced around $20/seat plus usage on an annual contract.
